Information on the Roof Shell

This roof shell made of high-quality glass fiber-reinforced plastic has several advantages over the original cardboard roof shell.

Special properties and advantages of the glass fiber-reinforced roof shell

  • this headliner is dimensionally stable without the need for additional foam strips (the original headliner with part number A1707900745 requires foam strips on the back)
  • the headliner is at the same time flexible
  • the headliner is washable
  • the headliner has a high durability

Additional Disadvantages of the Cardboard Headliner With Foam Struts

  • it can absorb oil (e.g. if the roof hydraulic oil leaks, it is difficult or even impossible to cover it again afterwards).
  • it can soak up
  • it can become brittle more quickly

Imitation Leather Care Instructions

Use a clean cloth and lukewarm water; for heavier soiling use a soft brush; for additional care you can use artificial leather Protector.

ATTENTION: do not use greasy products!

Velour Microfiber Care Instructions

Use a clean cloth and lukewarm, distilled water; for heavier soiling, you can add a little washing-up liquid to the lukewarm, distilled water and a soft brush.

ATTENTION: do not pour the water/detergent mixture directly onto the surface to be cleaned, but apply with a cloth!

In accordance with Section 312g (2) of the German Civil Code (BGB), goods may only be returned if they are as good as new, unused, unchanged and without damage or signs of use.

Custom-made and personalized items that are manufactured according to customer specifications or are clearly tailored to personal needs, in particular personalized goods, are excluded from the right of return.

Certified Production

The base shell is made of high-quality glass fiber-reinforced plastic. The manufacture of these special SLK GRP headliners has been tested and approved by the VKS/TAW-Zert Technical Commission.

The headliner cover is bonded to the roof shell using a first-class adhesive for lasting adhesion.

At Atelier M73, the headliners are produced purely by hand in accordance with the regulations. In the process, absolute attention is paid to the highest quality standards.

These SLK headliners are the innovation to the old Mercedes part number A1707900745 and fit all R170 models, pre-MoPf as well as MoPf.

Embroidery on Your New Headliner Cover

For a completely individual character of the headliner, you can order embroidery on your new headliner cover after consultation with me.

An embroidery file is required to embroider your logo or desired motif on a headliner cover. Ideally, you will have the embroidery file in the form of a DST or EXP file. Otherwise, we will be happy to create an embroidery file for you for an additional charge, which you can receive by e-mail after your order has been completed.

The price for embroidery depends on the size and number of motifs.

After the hydraulic cylinder in my SLK also started leaking and oiled the entire roof lining, a replacement was needed. Unfortunately, this part is no longer available from Mercedes, and the used parts on the internet are either very oily or dirty.

Then I came across Atelier M73 during my search. This company manufactures the headliner from GRP and then obtains it according to customer requirements. I opted for the original gray and what can I say? It looks great. The workmanship is flawless – TOP craftsmanship.

After the headliner on my SLK disintegrated, I decided to get a new one.
After a long search on the Internet, I came across Atelier M73.

Here, a completely new basic element made of GRP was beautifully covered. The craftsmanship is perfect and the sky looks beautiful.
